After years of listening to technicians telling me that my a/c unit was the right size for the house, after buying the wrong size unit upstairs and outside. Finally, Laurence came along and blew all those guys with calculators away. I knew the original a/c unit was too small for the house and so did he. First he rebuilt the air handler in the attic and made a big difference in both our comfort level and the electric bill. Why I Switched A/C Companies...
I called Katy-West Houston Air at the recommendation of a friend for an estimate on a new system. They had installed her system very professionally at a reasonable price, and she was very pleased. I had 5 companies out for estimates prior to Katy-West Houston Air. Every company told me the compressor was bad, as it tripped the breaker almost every afternoon. The unit had not cooled correctly for several years even though it was a State of the Art 14 SEER Carrier when it was installed. The techncian, Eric asked if he could check the existing unit, which I allowed. The unit had been checked by other companies over the years and I was always told the Freon was good. The technician found a weak run capacitor causing the breaker to trip, dirty coils and a lack of Freon causing poor cooling. He repaired and serviced the unit within less than 2 hours and the unit cools like it hasn't in years! They could have sold me a new system, but they are very honest and appearently better educated than their competition. When the time comes to replace my existing system, I am convinced that there will only be one phone call I'll need to make. I only wish I had heard about Katy-West Houston Air before dealing with all the other companies that offered no help.
